Who We Are: Equine Breeding

Hello everyone! We are excited to finally be able to launch the dedicated website for the Stock Horse Breeder Magazine.

The Stock Horse Breeder Magazine is a once-yearly publication dedicated to current and advanced methods and technologies in the stock horse breeding industry. The publication has a central focus on breeding-related articles, advancements in technology and methodology, and bringing large and small breeders the information they need for successful breeding seasons whether they choose live cover, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, or ICSI.

We are going to dive right into the nitty gritty on a variety of topics in the breeding industry, not just a general overview. You can expect in-depth information on the what, the where, the why, and most importantly, the how-to. Don’t expect just another fluff piece with minimal information that gives a general overview of the topic. We’re going to get nerdy with science!

In addition to articles bringing you the latest in breeding technology, each issue will also feature leading breeders, quality small breeders, excellent reproduction facilities and specialists, reproduction courses available, stallions, a breeder’s directory, a reproduction facility directory, and a classified section for mares, stallions, and foals for sale. The publication is designed to be a handy desktop reference for each new breeding season, chocked full of the latest discoveries, as well as tried-and-true methods in equine reproduction. The publication will be available in both print and digital format, with the option to expand to a bi-annual publication as well.

The website is dedicated to keeping breeders in the stock horse industry abreast of current breeding-related news and serves as a dedicated place for breeders and reproduction facilities to advertise their services to the stock horse industry. All disciplines are welcome here!

The Magazine

The print edition of the magazine will be published annually and distributed to subscribers of the print edition. We are looking at a distribution date by the first week of February 2024. Just in time for the breeding season. If you would like to subscribe to the print edition, click on the Advertising Tab in the menu and scroll down to Print Advertising. You will see the subscription box at the bottom of the page. Click on it and fill out the form.

Article Submissions

The Stock Horse Breeder is open to article submissions from fellow breeders, breeding enthusiasts, reproduction specialists, veterinarians, and equine researchers. For each edition, we will provide a list of topics we will be covering in the print edition. You can choose to write about one of those topics, or you can choose to write about a breeding-related topic that interests you. For each breeding-related article submission, we do ask that you provide at least one peer-reviewed resource with in-text citations in APA format. Don't let this scare you, we can help you with this. For breeder and reproduction facility spotlight articles, no peer-reviewed resources are required. Please see our Media Kit for a complete list of requirements for submissions.

Advertising

Advertising with The Stock Horse Breeder is simple. A complete list of print edition advertising options, as well as digital advertising options, can be found on the website under the Advertising tab.

The News Feed

The news feed blog will feature small articles and discussion topics throughout the year. This is a place where you can provide your thoughts and reactions to the content, and stay abreast of the latest news.

The Forum

The website features a discussion forum for all members. It does not cost anything to become a member, but you must become a member in order to participate in the discussion forum. This forum is where we will have discussions on all things breeding-related. The forum was created as a dedicated space where breeders could share questions, methods, theories, and more without the constant moderation of Facebook group admins. All we ask is that you please be respectful of others.

Participation

We strongly urge all breeders to participate in this wonderful community and magazine. It truly is the first publication of its kind for our industry, and offers so many benefits to breeders around the world. The best way to gain more knowledge is through collaboration. We want this to truly be a collaborative effort in which large and small breeders come together, help each other, teach each other, and support one another.
